Dyna-Aqua Oil Sorb™ Alumina for Oil Spills and Cleanup

Dyna-Aqua Oil Sorb™ (DA Oil Sorb™) was developed for the removal of crude oil from the Gulf of Mexico or sea water by combining the two most powerful mechanisms for capturing the greatest amount of oil from surface water – DAI Dyna-Aqua™ high adsorbent specialized alumina, and Hobbs Bonded Fibers’ specialized cotton. For the first time, alumina is being used to impregnate nonwoven fibers, providing a cost-effective and efficient method of removing oil from the ocean.

By impregnating cotton with specialized alumina, DA Oil Sorb™ is able to bind up to 3 gallons (+/- 0.2 gal) of oil for every pound of alumina treated cotton as tested using ASTM methods, exceeding any other method in the marketplace. Through the adsorbent properties of alumina, volatile organic compounds such as fumes and toxins can be removed before they make workers sick.

Works through the combination of absorption (cotton) and adsorption (alumina). The cotton product is used as endorsed by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and researched by agricultural engineer and ASABE Fellow Wm. Stanley Anthony at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
